Several oil and grease calibration options are available:
Pre-calibration by Wilks Enterprise (non-certified factory calibration) or by a Certified Testing Laboratory
Packaged oil and grease calibration standards available for purchase from Wilks Enterprise
Customer prepared standards for calibration as described in the InfraCal TOG/TPH User's Guide
Oil and Grease Standards
Standards can be made gravimetrically or volumetrically as described in the InfraCal TOG/TPH User's Guide.Pre-packaged Hexane calibration standards are available for purchase from Wilks Enterprise. These standards have been prepared by weight (mg/ml) by an ISO-9001 registered laboratory. If you are using Vertrel MCA or pentane, the Hexane standards are used for calibration. Please see the descriptions below to determine the appropriate standard for your analysis.
Non-Certified Factory Calibration
Wilks Enterprise can provide the InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzer with a non-certified 6-point factory calibration using any of calibration standards that we have available for sale. Please contact us for further information and pricing.
Certified Laboratory Calibration
The InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzer can be calibrated by a certified laboratory such as Sherry Laboratories 800-737-2378 or 337-235-0483 or Petroleum Laboratories Inc. Tel: 337-234-7414. The standards can be made from the customer's own oil sample or from a heavy weight oil. Standards are prepared on weight/volume basis. The standards can be verified against EPA Method 413.1 or 1664 for an extra charge. Please contact Sherry Laboratories or Petroleum Laboratories directly for more information and pricing concerning their oil and grease calibration service.
Calibration against a Laboratory Method
TOG or TPH is defined by the method the regulatory agency requires for compliance. There are several different methods for measuring oil in water or TPH in soil. Each one measures some property of the constituents of TOG or TPH and one method does not necessarily match another method. The InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzer can be calibrated to match a particular laboratory method for oil in water or TPH in soil. For detailed instructions see the InfraCal TOG/TPH User's Guide.
